28. Flat Piece Process for Baroque.

My idea came about when looking into the characteristics of Baroque and they stated that Lambrequin Motifs are used in which are Baroque fabrics that transferred into cloth. I started to source Baroque fabrics and found one in particular that really stood out for me into defining the movement. I've decided to use this as a stencil for my flat piece and alter the look to also have a crest. Because I am doing this for fashion and beauty it will be interesting to experiment with ready made materials and input my technical skills into transferring it into a makeup piece.

As you can see I struggled with the measurements to completely fill my flat piece I can began with 250g however I had to mix another 100g quickly but the first lot of silicone had already started to cure. Although this does not effect the outcome of mould this really should have been presented at a much higher standard.

When browsing for structured eye shadow design an array helped me picture how I could represent Deconstructivism on the eyelid. I particularly like the grey toned cube eye look above as it shows how shadowing and blending can help give a bold design.

I think this tryout needs to be refined to a more structured design and the shading is too similar to one another.

Although I really like the concept of using lighting and shading to make the design look three dimensional I think it looks a little too structured being the entire dimension of the collarbone. As drawn in my design log book I now think it would be better to create a more smaller yet bald imput to highlight the jaw structure.

23. Hair Experimentation

With this hair experimentation I wanted to see how I could create a fragmented edge to the hair by using freezespray and heating the shape to hold in place. As you can see the tryout is too busy looking and needs to be more precise in design. The coloured hair spray also gives it an artificial look which makes me think keeping the wig the same as the model hair would be best.

I tried to create an up-do structured design. Although it did work I feel like this will stand out to be abstract compared to my other series of images in which I want them to link to one another. This has made me think about backcombing the hair heaving towards the ends of the hair like the image above to create the shape.

For one of the looks in the series I wanted to create a hair design in which is the main focal point to represent Deconstructivism. My ability in hairstyling has been a weaker skill of mine in which has made me want to purely focus on it for this look to become more confident for future employment.
My concept for this hair design is to make a knotted half wig. Although wefts would be more quicker to make and more within budget for fashion context project when studying my models hair I knew it would need to have a lot of wefts inserted in order to gain thickness and because I want to explore heat styling I didn't think wefts were appropriate.
My idea is to make a half wig as this will be more within budget and because the hair will be of similar tone to the models there is no need to knot a front lace. This will also enable me to incorporate my models natural hair within design and improve my technical skills.

21. Tim Walker

I wanted to look into Tim Walkers photography to help identify how other areas of context such as costume and poses help create a strong contextual outcome.

The hand posture in this image helps give a bold context and sharpness to the overall look. I think the white background also helps the figure stand out more with no shadowing from the lighting. This is an area I will need to think about when choosing my poses for the make-up and hair to be represented in. I think also it will need to be the same for the whole series so that it draws the looks together as a piece.

I think it would be interesting to take images of my make-up looks from different angles particularly the ones where the hair is the main focal point as it will give the audience another dimension when looking at the hairstyle from seeing the design not face forward.

Interesting concept of using the a similar material on the background to what there is on the face. The make-up design does have similarities to a Baroque form and I particularly like how the make-up transfers down to the neck and carves out the shoulder to be a strong outline in which works strongly with the pose the model is displaying.

The different textures portrayed on the hair and costume really help bring the whole look together. I particularly like how the lace is transferred over the face in which helps pick up the subtle orange tone of the lip stick.

I think mirroring an image would be a really interesting concept to use when choosing the image composition for my final images of this unit as it will help show my make-up and hair work from different angles to help show the whole of my make-up and hair design in one image.

Again I think Walker has made the image a really strong piece of work by incorporating all elements of the look to portray a sharp angle. The hair has been sleeked down, the outfit placed in a sharp angle and the nails also having a sharp form. The lips do not only give it an abstract look but it also brings the piece together with the bronzed tone linking with the outfit. I think a look like this would work really well  Deconstructivism with the mouth being fragmented from the norm.

20. ROSHAR

I wanted to look at Roshar's work as much of his work experiments with the use of artist elements however shot in a fashion and beauty context much like I want to style my final pieces for this project.

I really like the composition of these two images as I think it relates well to my idea of focussing to one area of the body. I particularly like the image on the right as the focus on the collarbone is strong yet the face and hair is very symmetric. I think be cause of the sharpness of the composition this would work well for Deconstructivism.

I think this look is really interesting with the motif designs being merged down to a body paint. I think this would be an interesting concept for a Baroque look due to the reasoning that the repetition would be a complex task to achieve through make-up. I would need carefully design the look to be symmetric as possible to be placed on the body.

Again I think the pose helps create a strong framing to make the make-up and hair the main focal point of the image. I think it could be really interesting to think about creating a make-up piece that flows onto the hands. I think this pose could work well for Deconstructivism due to the reasoning that you could make abstract angular shapes to represent the fragmentation of the movement on the hands and this could also be changed with the movement and different angles of the fingers.

I particularly like the make-up design on the right how the the model sports a full coverage makeup look yet it is transformed with the layering of the shapes and the blocked out eyebrows.

It is great to see that design elements can be used as the main look for a make-up piece. As you can see the swirl motifs definitely relate to a similar of shape of which I have research for Baroque. I think what works well the most would be the use of symmetry to relate to the movement. The bold lip adds another dimension to the piece with it contrasting with the monochrome tones.

Again a slight Baroque feel can be seen with the motif shapes used. I particularly like the angle of the composition which helps make the artwork have a strong focal point. I also think it creates a bold overall look to have the tones of the motif being transferred into the eyeshadow and orange lip.
